“ I’m not religious, I don’t have any gods. I like to think that I’m willing to take responsibility of all of my thoughts and actions and what happens due them. But I see myself as a profound and as a person seeking for a meaning in life especially during the times when society is focused on outside world. I’m steering my focus inside. I think we need this kind of a thinking even more widely in our society.”
VILLE [Text excerpts from issue 4]
What inspired "You Have A Body, You're Not a Body"?
My latest experiments with transparent materials combined with the literature I read. How I see it, a body is a continuation of my thoughts, rhythm and reasoning. They’re different things but are both necessary to experience material existence.
Does religion influence your work? How so?
I’m not religious, I don’t have any Gods. I like to think that I’m willing to take responsibility of all of my thoughts and actions and what happens due them. But I see myself as a profound and as a person seeking for a meaning in life especially during the times when society is focused on outside world. I’m steering my focus inside. I think we need this kind of a thinking even more widely in our society.
Do you have a favorite medium to work in? Why or why not?
I used to paint oil on canvas but nowadays mostly with different “new” materials. I’m focused on transparent materials at the moment. It’s a straight reflection from our society: we, the society, are becoming transparent.
What is your educational background? Do you think this has affected your art?
I have 2 diploma’s. One from industrial design and another from Fine Art. This is visible in my aesthetics and the way I paint. It is both impulsive but also very well thought beforehand. It’s important to know when to rely on living in the moment and when to let it go. Eventually they are actually the same thing: knowing and being present.
What gives you energy in life? How long did it take you to realize this?
Even if I love to spend a lot of time alone, I really love people. I always find interesting details and perspectives from people. I also have friends from all the different social backgrounds. People are beautiful.
Who are your favorite artists? Is there anybody you specifically admire? Why?
At the moment I don’t have favorite artists. I admire people who stay true to themselves despite the reaction of their surroundings and another people. It demands courage. Many people think they live this way but It’s very rare, in the end. People tend to spend most of their life avoiding to confront themselves with honesty even though this would eventually set them free. People are afraid to confront themselves.
What do you think people forget about life that you think they should remember?
If life is a meaningless once in a lifetime experience, when you die you wouldn’t know you existed. So when alive get to know yourself, grow, live full and never be afraid. Why bother anything you don’t desire. But don’t live in need nor want. Then you’re on a wrong track. Live in desire. It will guide you where you should go. If there’s something after life? Do the same. Also, say honestly your beautiful thoughts of others aloud. Those are the thoughts that should be said.
What do you think is most beautiful in life?
Love. Everything will follow.
What are you most afraid of?
I don’t like physical pain. I don’t want to experience it.
How do you think interface (texting, Internet, Instagram, Snapchat, etc) has on humanity? Do you think this interconnectedness is an inherently good or bad thing? What do you think it does to art? Does the Internet change the way you make art?
I believe that eventually after a little adjustments these things are good for people and humanity. I personally like to experience life more with true people in real life.
